Retinoids go in the fridge
The Ordinary says its Granactive Retinoid and Retinol products need refrigeration after opening. Its Retinol 0.5% in Squalane, for example, should be refrigerated and used within three months of opening. Storing these at room temperature shortens their life.
Everything else
For most other products, The Ordinary recommends a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and says there is no harm in refrigerating, with a few exceptions. Water-based serums and creams still have a PAO, so date them when you open them.
